Artist Statement

I am a ceramic artist based in South Florida, exploring themes of memory, identity, and human connection through clay. I was born and raised in Peru, where museums and archaeological sites became my refuge from a young age. Those early encounters, along with years of artistic training in Japan and later experiences in China, formed the foundation of my artistic language. My work is driven by a curiosity about the ways objects carry memory, whether cultural, embodied, or personal.

I find inspiration in the visual languages of pre-Hispanic cultures to create contemporary ceramic forms that reinterpret ancestral symbols and patterns through a personal lens. Rather than preserving the past, I explore how cultural memory continues to evolve, shaping identity, belonging, and our connection to those who came before us.
